This page of poetry is divided into two columns and has eight rows of gold script. The rows are coloured navy blue, red and olive green. The nastaliq script, which is usually used for poetry, is written over a thin scrolling motif. At the top part of the page above the poetry, there is a small triangular drawing of three seated men having a discussion by a tree. This pen drawing is similar to the style found in the late Safavid period. The drawing was cut and mounted together with the poetry, probably at a later stage. In Persia (present-day Iran), literature was an aspect of an educated Persian's life. Literary books and albums of poetry and calligraphy are commonly found in a wealthy home.
