This Qur’an juz’ is written in a script, which has generally been labelled as 'sini', that was developed by Chinese Muslim calligraphers. Sini scripts, with their shallow downward strokes, look like or could be considered a variation of muhaqqaq. This particular Qur’an section is juz’ four of a 30-part Qur’an. The opening pages are decorated with borders of gold and other colours, featuring geometric as well as floral designs. The end pages have borders of peonies and chrysanthemums.
