Salmah Ahmad was born on 7 September 1937 in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. She made her acting debut in the Cathay-Keris film, ‘Pontianak’ in 1957. She later decided not to renew her contract at Cathay-Keris and opted to work for Merdeka Film Productions in Malaysia. She retired in 1964.
