'Pua kumbu' (sacred cloth) are woven by Iban Dayak women, who gain status through the processes of weaving intricate patterns and preparing natural dyes. They are sacred objects that are considered spiritually powerful as they contain many potent symbols used for protection and as blessings during special occasions. They are still used among the Iban in important ceremonies and rituals like birth, coming of age, and death.
