This woven, cotton sarong is patterned with repeated embroidered geometric motifs of red outlined with white in the body. The repeated geometric design known as hooked lozenges, is one of the most basic forms, and is used to represent living beings, both human and animal. Some scholars have suggested the decorative design may be the symbol of a woman, signifying birth. This sarong was probably used by the Iban Dayak women.
