This textile known as 'lamak' is woven in the supplementary weft technique. It has yellow, white and cream decoration on red handspun cotton with motifs of Dewi Sri (or cili, the rice goddess), butterflies and bird. The lamak are used in Balinese temple ceremonies as temple-door decorations or hung as banners from tall poles. The most common design combines the ancient circle motif with a stylised hour-glass triangle representing Dewi Sri.
