This plain, weave cotton batik cloth depicts a Malaysian kampong (rural) scene. It has a brown background with motifs of stylised plant, animal and human figures. The human figures are depicted engaging in farming activity such as pounding padi, ploughing, sowing. There are also illustrations of buffaloes, coconut trees, padi stalks, chicken among other motifs in rows of four, separated by horizontal bands of curvilinear designs. This cloth was probably cut and sewn into sarong for everyday use.
