This thin, bamboo flute is played through the nose rather than the mouth. The Sakai are an aboriginal people of the Malay Peninsula. They have traditionally lived in the mountains to avoid persecution from the Malays. By the 1930's the Sakai had started to move out of the mountains into the city and became more Westernised.
