Latifah Omar was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 1939. She received her big break in the film ‘Panggilan Pulau’ (1954), acting alongside film legend P. Ramlee. The film made her into a household name and started her immensely successful career as an actress at Malay Film Productions and later at Cathay-Keris Productions. Her other films include ‘Bawang Putih Bawang Merah’ (1959), ‘Hang Jebat’ (1961) and ‘Laila Majnun’ (1962).
