This first day cover was issued in commemoration of the end of World War Two. It features four stamps depicting scenes and documents from the immediate post-war Singapore under the aegis of the British Military Administration (BMA). The four stamps show a jubilant crowd celebrating the Japanese departure; the surrender ceremony at City Hall on 12 September 1945; women and children queuing for free salt, rice and sugar rations distributed by BMA two days before the formal Japanese surrender; and finally, a roadblock manned by British soldiers.
