These buffalo bones are inscribed on both sides. The concave face is inscribed with symbols of fish, seven-point stars, stylised lizards and human motifs, while the convex face is inscribed with the Batak script. These buffalo bones were most likely amulets made by the magician-priest to be worn as protection.
