This bowl has an unglazed slightly flared lip and a ribbed exterior covered in apple-green copper celadon glaze. A wash of chocolate slip covers the base. The celadon glaze and form of this bowl have attributes of Chinese origins and many of these types of wares took their inspiration from the southern Chinese celadon tradition. Celadon is a French term that is used to refer to wares that derived their green-tone from glazes that were rich in naturally occurring iron-oxide.
