This bridal headband with glitsilver ornaments featuring the eight immortals, ‘ba xian’, was worn by Indonesian Peranakan brides. There are also an intricate netted veil of gold beads and pearls. However, the giltsilver figures featured in this headband do not accurately represent the ba xian and are mere abstractions of human figures. This indicates that the headband may be made by local craftmen whose knowledge of Chinese religion was limited.
