Haw Par Villa exhibit showcasing arts and culture from Thailand

While the theme of Haw Par Villa revolves predominantly round Chinese legends and folklore, there are other displays as well, such as the Thailand section, as shown in this photograph. The stance of the Thai dancer depicted is characteristic of an ancient Indian dance, which is not surprising, as the origins of Thai culture and arts can be traced back to India. Originally called Tiger Balm Gardens, Haw Par Villa was built on Pasir Panjang Road in 1937 by Aw Boon Haw, a prominent businessman who had the intention of educating the public about Chinese culture.
