Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall was originally called the Town Hall, which was designed by the Municipal Engineer, John Bennett, and completed in 1862. Otherwise known as Victoria Memorial Hall for the better part of the 20th century, the Memorial Hall was a later addition, built in memory of Queen Victoria after she passed away in January 1901. Prior to this, the Town Hall sered the dual purpose of housing a theatre on the ground floor while providing office space on the second level. It was in 1979 that the building was renamed Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall as it is known today.
