This textile is known as a 'phaa hom'. It was used as a blanket wrapped around the shoulders for travels during the cold season. It belonged to one of the Tai Neua ethnic groups from Northern Laos.The phaa hom was handwoven using hand-reeled silk and handspun cotton with natural dyes. The indigo blue geometric motifs are woven with the continuous supplementary weft technique.
