'Straits of Johor and Singapore'

This print (chromolithograph) shows the Johor Straits, a waterway located between Singapore and the region of Johor, which is situated at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. This print by Austrian diplomat Eugen von Ransonnet was published in his 'Skizzen aus Singapur und Djohor' (Sketches: Singapore and Johore) in 1876. Like the human figures depicted in the print, von Ransonnet travelled through the Johor Straits in a canoe.
