This black cheongsam was worn by the donor’s mother, Edna Kung, who wrote for the Straits Times fashion column in the 1930s. Edna wore this cheongsam during the one-year mourning period for her mother. The ankle-length translucent cheongsam was worn with a slip and secured by frog buttons. Despite its simple design, the cheongsam has a more body-hugging silhouette compared to the 1920s cheongsam.
