These plates are usually worked on relatively thin, silver plates, using chasing or repoussé techniques and sometimes open work. Their form whether round, octagonal or rectangular is repeated in the central panel, filled with and surrounded by a foliage design. Other motifs can include lozenges with a rosette in the centre.
