This dish, also known as 'ceper' (a flat-edged small metal plate or salver) has a scalloped rim decorated with leaf scrolls. At the centre, is a circle decorated with floral motifs. Traditional silverware of Muslim Java share similar characteristics with the silver of the Malay Peninsula. Plates, trays, and small dishes such as this example, are usually shallow and have scalloped rims. The decoration consists of a medallion or a stylised flower in the centre and scrolls or floral design on the flange. They are seldom completely covered with ornamentation.
