The Penang Waterfall has been one of the favourite subjects of colonial era paintings of Penang, and this early photograph of it indicates the continued interest in the age of photography. The posed human figure at the foot of the waterfall illustrates the great height of the natural formation, which is known by some as the Great Waterfall.
