Male headdress

The framework for this headdress is basketry with different coloured pieces of cloth sewn together to form a chequered design. The top of it has some intricate stitches done with fine cotton thread. This headdress is said to have been worn by an ‘andi’ or a male person related to the Bugis royal family. He will be given a piece of fine white muslin cloth which he would wrap around his headdress when he goes on his pilgrimage.
