A group of Malay children at Kampong Kallang

This postcard depicts a typical scene at Kampong Kallang. Stilt houses of a Malay village on the bank of the Kallang River are visible in the background, while the photographer’s main subject matter is clearly the children posing in front. In the 1930s, the residents of Kampong Kallang had to resettle at Kampong Melayu as this area underwent massive reclamation for the construction of the Kallang Airport.
