With its visual highs and lows, he teams it with a dramatic monochrome palette to create stark contrasts, dynamic and a lyrical sense of flow and movement. For this series of his work, Saai wanted to find a common ground between the music and art of East and West – two fields that have strong history and identity in both European and Asian cultures. Al Saai works in a wide range of styles, from decorous classical modes, which he often uses for quotations from poetry, to inventive compositions, in which lettering is fragmented into fantastical, almost pictorial compositions.
