This beadwork and embroidered bed hanging is constructed using metallic thread couching and bead netting. It has figurine motifs and a beadwork fringe, with beaded tassels hanging from the bottom of the embroidery.Bed hangings were usually hung from the front of the canopy of the four-poster bed. These were usually created using the threading method. However, some might also combine various embroidery techniques to create a more intricate piece of art. These larger panelled embroideries were usually done by professional workshops in China to suit the requirements of their Straits Chinese clients.
