In 1959, soon after the PAP won the Legislative Assembly Elections, the government declared 3 December to 10 December “National Loyalty Week”. The Ministry of Culture published a series of booklets entitled Things That You Should Know that were meant to explain the structure and functions of the various Ministries formed by the new government. Booklets were written in Malay, English and Chinese. They were released for the Ministries of National Development, Health, Culture, Labour and Law, Education, Internal Affairs as well as the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office.
