This single folio from the Qur’an is written in bold muhaqqaq, which means ‘accurate’ or ‘measured’. Written on polished paper, it comes from juz' (part) 6 of 30 in the Qur'an, and features part of verse 64 of the Surah au-Maidah (The Repast). It has been suggested that this particular section became detached from the rest of the Qur’an and that the illuminated decorations could possibly have been done in India. Muhaqqaq is a straight script with flat endings that look like swords. It was a script much favoured for copying Qur’ans from the 14th century onwards.
