The display of various animal mounts marked the impressive zoological section at the Raffles Library and Museum, which contained a striking array of specimens that ranged from stuffed and skeletonised seladang (wild oxen), rhinoceros, wild boar and deer to birds, reptiles, amphibians and aquatic mammals such as dolphins and tortoises. Apart from animals, the museum's extensive collections also included botany, geology, ethnology and numismatics.
