The Raffles Library and Museum

This photograph of the Raffles Library and Museum was shot before works on an extension to the building began in 1904. Entitled "R. Hanitsch photo", the photograph was presumably taken by Dr. R. Hanitsch himself, who was head of the institution for 24 years before retiring in 1919 with an impressive track record. During his tenure, the Raffles Library and Museum flourished, trebling in size and the collections also expanded significantly, in addition to the vast network of scientific contacts that had been established.
