While the rice cultivation governed the general pattern of life, it also influenced the various handicrafts. Rice bags were one of the main basketry products in the Malay Peninsula. This type of bag, produced in myriad forms with varied decorations, were made by the women of Ulu Pahang in Malaysia, the likes of which are rarely seen today.
