This Shamana mirror was used by the ritual dancers ('lamas)' of Tibet. It bears an iron roundel with silver frame which is gilded and bears a motif of swirls. The central inscription reads HRIH, which means "Calling on the Gods for Assistance".Clearly, this mirror is belived to have a protective power and hence is talismanic (probably because it reflects light, and symbolic of the sun). It is part of the complete paraphernalia worn by the dancer - consisting of the skull cups, masks, bone apron, vajra (thunderbolt) and ghanta (bell).
