This manuscript is a section of a Qur'an from Surah al-Anfal (Chapter 8) to Surah al-Zumar (Chapter 39, Verse 40) with an illumninated double page which showcases an excellent example of Acehnese illumination style.The illumination, calligraphy and binding of the holy book shows the inner spirituality of the communities and individuals who painstakingly decorate it as an act of reverence. Though each region of Southeast Asia has its own distinct style, they also have many features in common.
