This pictorial book of Japanese conversation vocabulary from the Japanese Occupation years belonged to a professional photographer David Tay Tian Swee in his youth. As the Japanese Military Administration sought to turn the Japanese language into the common language of Asia, many schools in Singapore were made to teach the language and this book was one of the many learning tools used by the students.
