This red, sleeveless, ankle-length cheongsam is decorated with flowers using the batik technique of Malaysia. Made of silk, the collar, sleeves, flap on the right bodice, and hems are lined with white piping. This belonged to Mrs. Goh, the late mother of the donor, Mr. Goh Eck Kheng. She was a teacher at Methodist Girls’ School, which was then located at Mount Sophia in Singapore. Ankle-length cheongsams similar to this piece were worn by Chinese women on formal occasions in Singapore
