Jawi periodical on gardening tips

Malay literature and publishing flourished in the 1920s and 1930s. They included newspapers and periodicals on vocational interests like sports and botany. They were published in Singapore for use in schools by the Department of Education in the Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States. Jawi script was in use until the end of World War II. It was subsequently replaced by Rumi (romanised Malay).
