P. Ramlee was considered the biggest film and singing star during the heyday of the Malay film industry in the 1950s and 1960s. He came to Singapore at the age of 19 in 1948 and for the next 25 years, he acted in 62 films, directing 33 of them. His films ranged from historical epic and romance to social drama, comedy and horror.
