A lathe is a machine used in woodturning, metal working, glass working and also to shape pottery.The lathe was invented way back in ancient Egypt while trades which use the machine have also been in existence in Singapore for very long. For instance the former Guan Huat Dragon Kiln manufactures pottery since the 1950s and the technology the kiln uses was introduced by Chinese immigrants in the early 20th century.
