This is the July 1956 edition of The Malayan Monthly magazine with Hongkong film actress Li Li Hwa (Hua) on the cover. Li Li Hwa was born on 17 July 1924 in Shanghai, China. She made her acting debut in the film ‘3 Smiles’ in 1940. Her acting career flourished and in 1960, she joined Shaw Brothers, where she made hit films like ‘The Magnificent Concubine’ (1960) and ‘The Grand Substitution’ (1965). She eventually retired from acting in the 1970s.
