This pair of silver bracelets come from the Dayak people of Borneo, and are decorated with geometric designs embossed using repoussé and chasing techniques. Metal jewellery was part of the Dayak ritual costumes which includes elaborately woven textiles. It has been suggested that metalworking among the Dayak is linked to masculinity, whereas textiles, other than those with beadwork and barkcloth, are associated with feminity.
