This calligraphic work is entitled al Qalam, which means ‘the pen’. The words in the foreground are the repeated words 'the pen'. The words in the background are from a Sufi poem by al-Niffari. This composition was written by the eminent Bahraini calligrapher Abdel Ellah Al Arab, which was then adapted by the artist, Jamal Abdel Rahim into an artwork.Muslims around the world are unified by the Qur’an and as such, the holy word and the vehicle by which it is transmitted, that is calligraphy, remains an integral part of Muslim identity.
