Bahnar garments, made from cotton, are often in a combination of black, red and white - colours chosen to make an impression. This two piece garment is worn by Bahnar women who usually use brocaded patterns of nature and geometic designs on their clothess to make their clothes look more colourful. Garments for Bahnar women usually consist of short-bodied tops, dresses and also 'sarongs' or skirt wraps. The tops can be long sleeved or non-sleeved.The Bahnar (also spelled Ba Na) are an ethnic group living primarily in the Central Highland provinces of Gia Lai and Kon Tum, as well as the coastal provinces of Bình Định and Phú Yên in Vietnam. They speak a language in the Mon-Khmer language family.
