This necklace is made up of flower-shaped pendants strung together on gold chains and would have been worn by a Peranakan Chinese bride during the wedding ceremony. Nonyas (Peranakan women) were fond of jewellery, which was worn as a display of wealth especially on ceremonial occasions. Aside from necklaces, their accessories include bracelets, anklets, earrings, belts and buckles, rings, 'kerosang' (set of brooches on blouse) and hairpins.
