This circlet or band is made of gold wire held together by decorative squares that are stained red. These squares are embellished with granulation to form floral or geometric motifs. This belt is probably from the northeastern Malay peninsular states of Kelantan, Terengganu or Pattani as their jewellery is highly distinctive in its use of faceted granulation (where gold granules are filed to produce geometric ‘faces’), filigree and red staining.
