This marble tombstone marks the grave of Abi ‘Abdullah ‘Ali ibn Muhammad, who died on the fourth day of the Islamic month Muharram. The inscription on the tombstone written in kufic script and reads: In the name of God, the Almighty, the Compassionate Allah himself is witness that there is no God but him.And the angels and men of learning (too are witness). Maintaining his creation in justice, there is no God save Him, the Almighty, the Wise (Qur'an - surah III, V 18).There died Abi 'Abdallah m'Ali ibn Muhammad... four nights which have passed in Muharram.The term kufic refers to a group of early angular scripts that were used for copying early Qur’ans. They were also found inscribed in objects and architecture.
