Hanging

This wall hanging is in the mehrab shape with leaves, buds and blossoms of the chrysanthemum plant covering the entire space. This wall hanging is a typical one found during 18th-19thcenturies from the Jaipur region in which cotton would have been used for outdoor tents, balcony landings and between doors and windows leading to the women’s quarters. Tents and their hangings which were often painted became very popular during the Mughal period.
