This large wooden wheel fashioned in the form of a 'naga' or mysthical serpent is for winding weft threads. These were woven horizontally across the warp (vertical) threads on a loom.Chinese sources record that the Khmer learned weaving from the Siamese - it is still not clear if this was the case.
