Palm Tree and Jambu bird

Born in Singapore in 1946, Nai Swee Leng who graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 1966 was one of the founders of the Molan Art Association and a committee member of the Society of Chinese Artists until 1992. He is actively engaged in the local and international art scenes, participating in solo and joint exhibitions; his first solo exhibition was held in 1974.Nai first learnt about the Shanghai School of painting when he studied under Fan Chang Tien; and the Lingnan School, another branch of Chinese ink painting, from Chao Shao An. Besides painting birds and flowers, a genre in traditional ink painting that forms a large part of Nai’s repertoire, he also paints local fruits and plants.
