Born in 1936, Thomas Yeo graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in 1960. He then studied in Chelsea School of Art and Hammersmith College of Art and Architecture in London. Since then, Yeo has participated in more than 100 solo and group exhibitions and in 1984, he was awarded the Cultural Medallion. Similar to abstract works of this period, Yeo investigates the interplay and relationships between the formal elements of form and colour, whereby individual forms are clearly delineated and retain their distinctive shapes. With its muted interplay of blue and green hues, Untitled reminds us of bird eye’s view of a sea, with white waves cresting on the shores of verdant islands, even as we peer into ocean depths.
