Born in 1966 in Singapore, Jason Lim holds a Bachelor of Art (Hons) from Central St Martins College of Art and Design, U.K. (1992) and a Master of Fine Art from Royal Melbourne Institute Technology University, Australia (2003). Lim is a trained ceramicist and interdisciplinary artist.As a contemporary artist, Lim uses clay as a sculptor rather than as a potter engaging in the process he termed as 'ceramic object-making'. Lim’s first solo exhibition "Recent Works - Jason Lim" was held at The Substation, Singapore, from 8 to 16 January 2002. On display were ceramic works Lim completed during his 2001 residency at the Europees Kerarmisch Werkcentrum in 's Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. ‘Elephants’ was one of the exhibited works.
