This conical bowl is evenly potted and is covered with a cream glaze. It has a painted design at the centre, of a fish swimming amongst aquatic plants and a band with scroll-like motifs on the rim. Chinese characters on the inner walls read, 'jing' (crystal), 'shui' (water), 'xian' (appear), 'ying' (image) and 'yu' (fish). The exterior design comprises a repeated motif of choppy waves. The bowl's unusual design is painted in underglaze iron-brown. Iron-decorated wares are one of the earliest types of epxort wares to have been produced in Vietnam together probably with underglaze brown and blue wares.
